Most sequins are made from virgin PET plastic; the same material as single-use bottles produced in bulk overseas with little transparency about what goes into them or where they end up.
We started The Sustainable Sequin Company because we believed the embellishment industry could do better. That you shouldn't have to choose between beautiful materials and responsible ones.
So we set out to make sequins differently. Our recycled PET film is produced in China, then the sequins are punched and cut in our UK workshop.
Made Differently, From the Start
Every sequin starts with recycled PET film produced in China. We punch and cut the sequins in our UK workshop, which gives us control over the shapes, sizes and quality of the finished pieces.
This distinction matters to us: the film is produced in China, while the sequin punching and cutting take place in the UK.

Hi! I’m Rachel
I founded The Sustainable Sequin Company because I wanted to make sequins that feel as good to use as they look. For me, embellishment should be beautiful, practical, and made with more thought: from the materials we choose to the way they’re produced and shipped.
The brand started from a simple frustration: it was surprisingly hard to find sequins that combined strong colour, consistent quality, and a more responsible approach to making them. That’s why I’ve focused on creating a range that gives makers more choice without losing sight of sustainability, transparency, or performance.
